Selfies Project explores the process (what it takes) to get the perfect selfie. Some girls where asked to take “the perfect” selfie of them selves on the phone and send in their process of getting that perfect selfie. They took loads of selfies just to get that perfect shot. The selfies differed in number, although it took each one alot of process to get the perfect picture. The selfies were printed on long rolls and hung on a wooden stand explaining their process. This allows people to see the process of each selfie and compare them. It is interesting to see how different the selfies are and how people prefer angles, filters, and different poses. Regardless of each picture and its beauty the girls have something they do not like in a specific picture and retake it multiple times.
Polaroids project is the second phase after the selfies. The same girls that were asked to take the selfie, were asked on the spot to have their picture taken through a polaroid camera. The picture was taken once only and not repeated, and because of that they were not satisfied with how their picture turned out. Each caption is the first reaction that the girl gave after having her picture taken. Although they had negative responses, each photo had a beauty in it while the girls did not see that.
One of the most famous social media trends we have in Doha is coffee. People enjoy taking photos of coffee throughout their day, while showing off their perfect life. This project explores a variety of photos from Instagram that people post, and the reality behind each picture and its perfectionism.
A collection of old photos of people and how simple life in the past was, when there was no social media. People only cared about living the genuine moment instead of perfecting it. Each photo shows the beauty in its simplicity and tells a story. This project is a contrast to show the past compared to the present.
